Wanted: Open Source and Free Resources for Developers

I am moderating a session at SpeechTek about Open Source and/or free tools for speech technology developers. I'd like to create a comprehensive list of all such tools to present at the conference.

If you have a tool you'd like to list, either add a comment to this blog entry or send me email.

I'll develop a comprehensive list and post its location.

My favorite editor, and other goodies

I always hear from people who want to know what editor to use for creating VoiceXML applications. I love the HTML Kit editor. It runs on Windows, but there is an alpha version now availalbe for Linux. There is an active and creative community developing plugins for this tool, and there are avaialble plugins for VoiceXML, SRGS and SSML.

PHP devleoprs can use the VoiceXML PHP Framework to create robust and powerful applications.

There is another PHP resource specifically for creating SRGS XML grammars. I created this because I wanted an easy way to create dynamic grammar files for XHTML+Voice applicaitons, without the bulk or overhead of the entire VoiceXML PHP Framework. It was built for PHP 4.x (doesn't use the new PHP 5 object model), but it's still pretty handy.
